Bow Lake Station Open House

On Saturday, May 23rd, Strafford Fire & Rescue hosted an Open House at the Bow Lake Station from 9 am - 3 pm.  Our ambulance staff was on hand to conduct blood pressure and blood sugar tests.  Fire fighters were available to give tours of the engine and station - including the latest renovations.  We raised $200 dollars for the Firefighter Association from the Penny Sale.  Many thanks to everyone that participated in our fundraising event!

St. Baldrick's Challenge

As part of our ongoing desire to help others, the Strafford Firefighters Association entered a team in support of the St. Baldrick's Foundation.  For those unfamiliar with St. Baldrick's, this foundation raises funds to support childhood cancer research.  5 brave participants volunteered to have their heads shaved and asked for donations from sponsors in return.  Thanks to the generosity of our neighbors and coworkers we were able to raise hundreds of dollars for the cause.

Station Renovation
Thanks to the generosity of Strafford residents at the March Town Meeting, the Bow Lake Station is undergoing a number of renovations - some visible and some invisible.  Most noticeably, a portion of the garage is being walled off to dramatically increase storage space in the station as a whole.  With an eye to winter and a desire to control utility costs, the attic space will be insulated, wall areas will be insulated and finished, and the office space will be restructured.  Safety and security being paramount, the garage doors will be retrofitted to accommodate the height of our newest engine and insulated for energy efficiency.  Come check out the changes at our Open House on May 23rd!

EMTs Still Needed

ImageWhile several individuals have expressed interest in joining our EMS department, we are still desperately shortstaffed.  If you currently work in the medical profession or just want to make a meaningful contribution to your community - even if it's just one evening per week - please call Chief Paul Stover at 335-5422.  Reimbursement for training is available.  There is no greater contribution you can make than to help a neighbor in their hour of need.
